Penn State Smeal’s A.I. Initiatives

Smeal A.I. in Business

Join a new Smeal initiative designed to help faculty explore innovative uses of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in business education. This collaborative effort supports faculty in thoughtfully integrating AI into courses, enhancing student learning, and shaping the college’s future approach to teaching and learning.

Smeal A.I.@Work

We’re excited to share that participants in the Smeal AI@Work Series will have the opportunity to earn a Microsoft 365 (Paid) Copilot license with increased functionality beyond the free PSU Microsoft Copilot license. M365 Copilot is recommended for staff and faculty who want to leverage Microsoft suite tools for workplace productivity.

BoodleBox

The Penn State Smeal College of Business is proud to be the first and only college at the university approved to pilot BoodleBox, a secure, enterprise-grade generative AI platform designed for education and professional collaboration. This pilot supports Smeal’s ongoing commitment to ethical, innovative, and pedagogically sound integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across teaching, research, and operations.

Dan and Robyn Ives A.I. Innovation Day

On March 19, 2026, The Dan and Robyn Ives AI Innovation Day & Case Competition will bring together students, faculty, staff, and industry leaders to explore the transformative impact of Generative AI in business education and beyond. Hosted at Penn State’s Smeal College of Business, this event will offer keynote addresses, interactive sessions, networking opportunities, and an undergraduate case competition where student teams share pitches for their AI-driven solutions to a real-world business case.

Smeal A.I. Hub

The Smeal AI HUB is a central space for the Smeal community to stay current on all things AI, from foundational concepts and prompting strategies to the latest tools and trends. It offers practical guides on AI basics, ethical and responsible use, and hands-on resources for using Copilot, ChatGPT, BoodleBox, and other AI agents in learning, teaching, and work. You’ll also find content on teaching with Generative AI, the future of learning and assessment, AI in business education, and using GenAI in research, along with curated articles and resources to keep you informed and empowered.

Smeal Academy Sessions

The goal of the Smeal Academy is to equip instructors with best practices and strategies for teaching, learning, and technology to ensure the Smeal community is prepared to respond to today’s unique challenges. We do so by sending weekly emails with practical tips and information, providing live sessions, and holding virtual consultations.
